Highlights: Burgundy and Paris in late April, 2017

We saw the restoration of the L’Abbaye Saint-Vivant, 10th century home of the monks who developed some of Burgundy’s most famous vineyards.

Our little group of eight visited Burgundy in April, 2017. What a terrific time to visit with the vines coming alive. In Chabils, we saw the winegrowers fighting the nighttime frosts by putting flaming hot pots in the vineyards. We also shared terrific wines and delicious meals at our comfortable hotel, Le Clos in Chablis. We had domaine visits with Samuel Billaud in Chablis and David Renaud in Irancy.

Then it was on to Beaune where we shared meals our favorites places– Ma Cuisine, La Dilettante and La Ciboulette. We had fun and informative tours of the Hospices de Beaune and the grand hall of the Hôtel-Dieu de Beaune.  We also visited Moutards Fallot, the last family owned traditional mustard maker in Burgundy. We also had fun lunchses at Le Terroir in Santenay and Au Petit Bonheur in Curtil-Vergy.

The village church in Meloisey in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune.

Wine domaines visits included Arnoux- Lachaux, Méo-Camuzet, Philippe Gavignet, Y. Clerget in Pommard, Domaine Dujac, Bruno Clair, Guy Amiot, Comte Senard, Domaine Servelle-Amiot, Betrand Machard de Gramont, Domaine Rougeot, and Domaine Alain Gras.

We ended in Paris for a day and half and on our last night enjoyed a memorable, delicious dinner at Les Temps des Cerises, a classic Parisian bistros in the Marais District near Place de Bastille.

We had a lot fun and cannot wait to do it again!
